WELCOME TO ROLLING PRAIRIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Families, as warm as the weather is… it is hard to believe we are now into October! With that being said, on comes the pumpkin spice lattes, college football and the end of the first nine-weeks of school :). We look forward to sharing with our families what we’ve already learned about your child as well as the gains/progress already made to start the school year. One component that we will be sharing this year is the inclusion of what the state of Indiana calls “employability skills”. Your child’s teacher will be sharing with you an infographic at conferences to better explain, but essentially these are the soft skills that we hope to instill in our students so that they become successful adults regardless of the path they choose once they graduate. Our thought is that if we want students to do these things when they are 25, we need to teach it to them now when they are 5.

To go along with those employability skills are the basic belief that we have that all students here at Rolling Prairie are important and matter. This comes from knowing them by name and working to teach what nice looks like in words and actions. Each Monday at Gathering we look at that as a Rolling Prairie family so that students all hear the same message and use the same vocabulary. Our hope is that students are understand they have power and how to use it for good as they make someone else’s day just a little bit brighter. I am fortunate each day to celebrate these moments from students through Top Dog awards as well as the quiet ones that make our school the best place to be. Thank you for your support both seen and unseen.
