The Instructional Program
The Instructional Program is designed for children kindergarten through grade six. There are four essential characteristics of this program:
The first of these requires the creation of a warm, relaxed and safe atmosphere where children are provided the freedom to make educational decisions whenever possible. Teaching strategies focus on a variety of student learning styles, instructional techniques and character development.
The second essential requirement is that the teacher truly becomes the facilitator of learning. Here the teacher creates an environment to guide the student in the acquisition of knowledge. The building administrator assists the teachers in designing the ultimate learning environment for the students.
The third characteristic requires the incorporation of all available resources into the learning environment. This includes bringing people, business and other community resources into the total setting.
The fourth characteristic is an emphasis on the State Standards and local curriculum. The classrooms function as learning laboratories designed to have students master basic academic skill, an awareness of the Arts, character development and citizenship.
