New Prairie Welcomes New SRO
La Porte County Sheriff John Boyd has announced that sheriff’s deputy Paul Adams has been assigned to New Prairie United School Corporation as their school resource officer. Deputy Adams will be replacing Deputy Corey Chavez who had been assigned to New Prairie schools during the 2016 – 2017 school year. Deputy Adams began his new assignment on Monday August 7th.
Deputy Adams is a graduate of New Prairie High School and was hired by the sheriff’s office in July of 2000. In March of 2003 he was promoted to patrol deputy. Deputy Adams has spent his career in the patrol division and serves as a member of the department’s Emergency Response Team. “We are pleased to have the working relations with the New Prairie schools. Superintendent Paul White and Principal Jen Sass both had input on Deputy Adams selection and we are all confident that he will be a good fit for the New Prairie schools” stated Sheriff Boyd.
The sheriff’s office currently has four deputies assigned to schools in La Porte county; the sheriff’s SRO program began in 2008.
