New Prairie United School Corporation is proud to introduce Dr. Paul White as Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1st, 2015.  Dr. White most recently served as Assistant Superintendent at Washington Community Schools in Washington, Indiana, for the past three years, during which time he was responsible for curriculum/instruction, financial management, staff evaluation, Title One/grants oversight, and school improvement.

Prior to serving in a central office role, Dr. White served as a middle school and high school principal for nine years in Monroe County Community Schools and Washington High School.  His career highlights include working with staff to improve Batchelor Middle School to Four Star School status in 2008-2009, leading Washington High School and Washington Community Schools to their highest-ever state achievement ratings in the accountability era, and receiving the Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship twice in 2003 and 2009.

Dr. White taught special education and social studies at the secondary level for eight years prior to entering administration, and coached varsity basketball and baseball for four years each, as well as coaching stints in softball and football.  Dr. White is a graduate of Roncalli High School, earned his bachelors' and master's degrees from Indiana University, and received his Education Specialist (Ed.S.) and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees from Indiana State University.  Dr. White’s family includes his wife Tara, a school library media specialist, who also holds journalism and school administration degrees from Indiana University.  Paul and Tara are the parents of three children:  Lauren, who will be a senior at New Prairie High School this fall; Jackson, who will be entering grade eight at New Prairie Middle School, and Morgan, who will be in grade four at Olive Township Elementary.

“I am honored to get the opportunity to serve as Superintendent for a district with such pride and tradition of success like New Prairie United," said Dr. White.  "New Prairie exhibits a ‘Culture of Excellence’ in every way from academic success to extra-curricular and co-curricular success.  I am really looking forward to partnering with the community, faculty, staff, and students of New Prairie to continue what has been built and to look for ways to grow and improve.  My wife and I feel like the New Prairie area is a great place for a family, and we look forward to becoming an active part of the communities in St. Joseph and LaPorte County.”

Beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, there will be changes made to the NPUSC transportation procedures. These changes have been made in the interest of keeping our students safe. Each student may have one morning pick up location and one afternoon drop off location. These locations need to be on file with the school office.   Please remember that all stops must be a residence within the boundaries of the New Prairie United School Corporation. Transportation to and from the YMCA Latchkey program held at Rolling Prairie Elementary will still be allowed as will transportation between NPUSC School buildings. Bus transportation changes (pass/notes) will no longer be accepted. It is in the interest of keeping our students safe that we can no longer accommodate complex schedules involving multiple stops.
